Lucid’s New Gravity SUV Gets Its First Recall

Lucid’s Newest EV Already Facing Issues

The Gravity was built for buyers who wanted Lucid’s tech and performance, but in a package that fits family life. Deliveries started earlier this year, marking the start of Lucid’s move into the heart of the SUV market. But only a few months in, the Gravity is already facing its first recall.

Lucid just announced a safety recall for a small batch of 2026 Gravity SUVs. The issue? Some front seat side airbags might not work as they should. It’s not a problem with the airbags themselves or the software. Instead, it comes down to a labeling mistake from one of Lucid’s suppliers on the seat backrest covers.

What Went Wrong

According to the safety recall report published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall covers 66 Lucid Gravity units built between September 8 and September 22, 2025. Lucid says about 40 percent of those actually have the defect, based on its own estimates.

The problem started when some seat backrest covers were labeled for the wrong side during production. Since the side airbags are built into the seats, putting a cover on the wrong side could block the airbag from working properly in a crash.

Lucid’s seat supplier, Hyundai Transys, first spotted the issue in late October 2025 when they found a mislabeled cover during assembly. The covers themselves came from Piston Interiors in Mexico, a supplier that only started working with Lucid a few months earlier.

That discovery set off a round of inspections and meetings between Lucid and its suppliers. Lucid paused sales and dug deeper. By early November, they had narrowed down 66 vehicles that might be affected and already reached customers.

The Fix

As you’d expect, the fix is straightforward. Lucid will check the front seats and swap out any covers with the wrong label. Of course, owners won’t pay anything for the repair, and Lucid will also cover reasonable out-of-pocket costs if you have already dealt with the issue.

Lucid plans to start notifying owners in early February 2026, with repairs happening in phases. The company says the production line is already fixed, and suppliers have added more inspections and camera checks to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
