Top 25 selling cars of December 2025

December 2025 car sales witnessed few changes in top 25, Maruti Baleno leads

December 2025 top 25 car sales list revealed, Maruti Baleno tops the chart. There are 11 Maruti cars in this list, followed by 4 cars from Mahindra, 3 cars from Tata, Hyundai and Toyota and 1 from Kia.

Maruti Baleno closed 2025 as India’s highest-selling car for December, replacing the Tata Nexon after the compact SUV spent three consecutive months at the top of the monthly sales chart.

Sales data for December indicates that compact models under four metres long accounted for nine of the ten highest-selling cars in the country. This category has gained renewed traction after the GST rate on small cars was lowered earlier in the year, resulting in more competitive pricing for mass-market buyers.

Within that mix, hatchbacks showed an improved performance, with three models featuring in the Top 10 list – a noticeable shift compared to earlier months when SUVs and crossovers had a higher presence.

Maruti’s compact line-up played a significant role in the month’s rankings. The Baleno was followed closely by the Fronx, which finished second and trailed the hatchback by only 1402 units. When combined, dispatches of models built on the same platform – Baleno, Glanza, Fronx and Taisor – totalled 53,722 units in December. The platform aggregation highlights growing demand for Maruti’s compact premium offerings across body styles.

Despite losing the top position, Tata Motors’ Nexon continued to post healthy volumes and finished the month in third place. Sales for the compact SUV were almost 43 percent higher than the corresponding month in the previous year, reflecting sustained appetite for feature-rich SUVs in the mass segment.

Hyundai did not have a model break into the Top 10 sellers for December. The Creta, however, placed 11th overall and remained the highest-selling model in the mid-size SUV category. It outperformed segment rivals such as the Grand Vitara, Hyryder and others, maintaining its position as Hyundai’s volume driver in that space.

December’s figures underline two concurrent trends – continued strength in sub-4m models and a partial rebound in hatchbacks following the GST change. However, the rankings also show that compact SUVs like the Nexon continue to hold significant market influence, while mid-size SUVs remain more fragmented with competitive spreads across manufacturers.

Out of 25 cars in the list, only one car has witnessed negative year-on-year growth. What are your thoughts on the top 25 selling cars of December 2025. Let us know in the comments section below.
