2026 Kia EV6 price revealed: Longer range, new look for overdue electric car
The long-promised styling and battery overhaul for the sleeker of Kia’s two mid-size electric cars is arriving in Australia with a price rise of less than $100.
- 2026 Kia EV6 pricing and specifications
- New battery boosts range by up to 56km
- Refreshed styling, new interior technology
- Priced from $72,660 plus on-road costs, up $70

The 2026 Kia EV6 is finally days away from Australian showrooms – 12 to 18 months later than the late 2024 arrival first planned – with a longer driving range, new features, and updated styling.
As forecast, there has been a price rise, rather than a price cut, but it is mild: $70 across the EV6 range, including on the flagship, circa-$100,000 GT performance variant.
It coincides with a longer list of features across the range, including Kia Connect smartphone app connectivity, and new infotainment software with over-the-air updates for the dual 12.3-inch cabin displays.
However, it means the EV6 range now starts from $72,660 plus on-road costs – about $14,000 more than a Tesla Model Y RWD, and nearly $16,000 more than the base Kia EV5 Air, which is front-wheel drive on simpler 400-volt, not 800-volt, underpinnings.

All EV6 variants use a new 84kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery pack, up from 77.4kWh, now good for up to 582km of claimed driving range in European WLTP testing in the base Air, up from 528km.
The GT-Line RWD increases from 504km to 560km WLTP, the GT-Line AWD from 484km to 522km WLTP, and the flagship GT up from 424km to 450km, now sneaking ahead of its Hyundai Ioniq 5 N relative (448km).
Rear-wheel-drive EV6 variants use a 168kW/350Nm electric motor, while all-wheel-drive grades step up to 239kW/605Nm from dual motors – all figures unchanged from the outgoing model.
However, the new EV6 GT steps up from 430kW/740Nm to 478kW/770Nm with the update.

DC fast charging in overseas models is claimed at up to 258kW, for a 10 to 80 per cent recharge in 18 minutes on a 350kW DC plug capable of supplying that much energy.
Kia Australia is yet to publish a detailed specification list for the updated EV6, but the entire range scores refreshed styling with new headlights, restyled 19- to 21-inch alloy wheel design, and tweaked front and rear bumpers.
Inside, the 12.3-inch screens gain Kia’s updated ccNC infotainment software with over-the-air updates, new graphics, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, replacing wired-only versions.
There is a reshaped centre console that gains a row of touch-sensitive controls for the heated/ventilated seats and heated steering wheel, plus, on GT-Line and GT models in Australia, a fingerprint reader to start the vehicle.

It is unclear if features from more expensive EV6 grades, such as a sunroof, suede and leather trim, power-adjustable heated and ventilated seats, and premium audio, will spread to the base Air.
Hardware changes made to the EV6 GT in overseas markets – including stiffer rear sway bars and softer front springs – have been adopted by Kia Australia and tailored for local roads.
It includes a new software tune for the electric power steering, claimed to improve “steering feedback … cornering accuracy and effort build-up”.
More details of the 2026 Kia EV6 for Australia are due in the coming weeks.
