The Subaru Impreza hatchback has been reduced to two grades in Australia, coinciding with an update introducing an emergency driving stop system and revised exterior colours.
On sale now, the 2026 Subaru Impreza is offered in carryover AWD 2.0L and AWD 2.0S grades, while the mid-spec AWD 2.0R has been discontinued in Australia “after careful review”.
“Subaru Australia continually reviews its model line-up to ensure it reflects customer preferences and demand,” a spokesperson said.
“After careful review, the MY26 Impreza line-up has been streamlined to two variants – AWD 2.0L and AWD 2.0S – focusing on the specifications most preferred and supporting improved availability.”

Priced from $33,490 before on-road costs – $1000 more than before – the 2026 Impreza adds an emergency stop system to bring the vehicle to a halt, activate its hazard lights, and unlock the doors if the driver becomes unresponsive while cruise control is set.
The small hatchback is offered in a new Citron Yellow Pearl paint finish, which, along with other colours except Crystal White and Crystal Black, now incurs a $660 surcharge instead of being a no-cost extra.
Oasis Blue has been removed from the list of available colours for the Impreza in Australia.
All Subaru Impreza grades feature a 115kW/196Nm 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine matched to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) automatic and a symmetrical all-wheel-drive system.
