Mahindra XUV 7XO debuts with updated design, triple screens & familiar powertrains

Mahindra has expanded its SUV portfolio with the launch of the XUV 7XO in India, priced from Rs. 13.66 lakhs (ex-showroom). The new model serves as a facelifted version of the XUV700 and is the second product to adopt Mahindra’s revised naming strategy after the XUV 3XO. While pre-bookings were temporarily paused ahead of the launch, bookings for the XUV 7XO will reopen on January 14, 2026, with deliveries for select variants beginning the same day and extending through April.

Visually, the updated SUV incorporates several styling cues inspired by Mahindra’s newer electric models such as the XEV 9E and XEV 9S. Key exterior changes include boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights, redesigned LED headlamp units, a revised grille and updated alloy wheels. At the rear, the XUV 7XO features a connected LED tail-lamp setup and a reworked bumper, while the overall silhouette remains familiar.

The cabin sees more noticeable upgrades. A new three-screen layout dominates the dashboard, consisting of a digital instrument cluster, a central infotainment display, and a dedicated front passenger screen, each measuring 12.4 inches. Other updates include a new steering wheel design, a touch-based HVAC control panel, refreshed upholstery colours, and an expanded feature list. Comfort and convenience highlights include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, powered front passenger seat with Boss Mode, wireless charging, dual-zone climate control and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos support.

Safety equipment has also been enhanced. The top variants are equipped with seven airbags, a 540-degree camera system, electronic parking brake with auto-hold and ISOFIX child seat mounts. A Level 2 ADAS suite continues to be offered, featuring adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist and automatic emergency braking. While the outgoing XUV700 secured a five-star Global NCAP rating in 2021, Mahindra states that the XUV 7XO has been developed to achieve comparable results under Bharat NCAP protocols.

Mechanically, the XUV 7XO carries over the existing powertrain options. These include a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 200 HP and a 2.2-litre diesel engine with outputs of up to 185 HP. Both engines are available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Higher diesel variants continue to offer an all-wheel-drive option. Mahindra has also revised the suspension setup, aiming to deliver improved ride comfort over the previous model.

Prices for the Mahindra XUV 7XO range from Rs. 13.66 lakhs to Rs. 24.92 lakhs (ex-showroom), depending on the variant and powertrain configuration.
