I laugh all the time at folks having detailed camshaft discussions and arguments on social media not only because people get worked up over things that just don’t matter, but also because most of these folks get themselves wound up before they actually pay attention. When Richard Holdener says that every cam is a turbo cam, you can almost hear their heads exploding. But what angers most folks is what they hear, that was never actually said.
They “hear” that every cam works with a turbo and is the ideal camshaft and that there is no reason to install a camshaft with better valve events. But that’s not what anyone is saying. What Richard, and everyone that understands and agrees with him, is saying is that adding boost to an engine will always make more power regardless of the camshaft specs. Can you make more power with a different camshaft? In most cases the answer is yes.
But nobody said it wouldn’t.
